This is a resource listing of two e-learning courses developed with the UNEP and other factsheets produced by the One Ocean Hub.

This blog provides an overview of UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the One Ocean Hub have developed two e-learning courses on multilateral environmental agreements related to SDG 14, ocean governance, and plastic pollution.

Marine Litter and Plastic Pollution: Legal Frameworks and the Introductory Course on SDG 14 and Ocean Governance are available on UNEP InforMEA platform (the UN Information Portal on Multilateral Environmental Agreements) upon registration here. Both courses integrate international human rights law considerations. In addition, the Hub has published draft information sheets on the environmental justice and human rights dimensions of ocean plastics, and is currently working on additional information sheets. These tools aim to support the negotiations of a new treaty on plastics and work at the national level. The Hub’s research emphasizes the need for an environmental justice perspective, caution against transposing understandings and approaches arising from the Global North, and the integration of human rights and environmental justice in assessments of proposed solutions.
