Providing scientific data for Ghana’s fisheries and coastal management through networking with institutions and experts.

The Fisheries and Coastal Management database of Ghana (FishCoMGhana) as a data hub seeks to acquire and archive data on Ghana’s coastal resources and their management. It embraces managed data access for researchers and fisheries managers, policy makers as well as promotes exchange of information between universities, government agencies and non-governmental organisation both local and international.

FishCoMGhana is a comprehensive service provided by the Centre for Coastal Management (CCM) and the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (DFAS), both at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

FishCoM Ghana aims to be:

  • scientific
  • professional
  • credible
  • user friendly and
  • regularly updated

The services address five thematic areas: coastal ecosystems, fisheries, aquaculture, coastal zones, and coastal oceanography and limnology. These services support a wide range of applications, including coastal ecosystems and services, climate change mitigation and adaptation in coastal areas, fisheries, aquaculture, mangrove forestry, regional and local planning, and sustainable development.
