The event reflects on the inter-linkages between ocean conservation and sustainable use and climate actions with a view to achieving multiple SDGs (poverty, gender), through sustainable and equitable benefit-sharing from ocean ecosystem services and ecological infrastructure across sectors (fisheries, aquaculture, tourism, shipping, and marine protected areas). We will demonstrate a modelling tool for marine spatial planning, and reflect on the contributions of indigenous peoples and small-scale fishers to the protection of the ocean and climate change adaptation, including as environmental human rights defenders.
